Chris Moore, a four-star forward in the class of 2020 from West Memphis, Arkansas, committed to Auburn today.

He is Auburn’s third commitment of the 2020 class and the third player from Arkansas to commit to Auburn since the Tigers hired assistant coach Wes Flanigan, an Arkansas native.

247: four-star, 97
Rivals: four-star, 101

Moore is a versatile forward who could (potentially) play three different positions for Auburn based on his size and skill set.

The forward’s well rounded game, and his ability to score, defend and pass makes him an ideal candidate for Auburn’s power forward role. His shot blocking could also allow him to play small ball center, while his point-forward style and size could allow him to play as a bigger small forward in the future.

Playing with the AAU team “Woodz Elite,” over the summer, Moore averaged 16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

In the Peach Jam, Nike EYBL’s premier tournament, Moore averaged 11.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. Moore has just started his senior season at West Memphis high school in Arkansas.

Moore’s defensive versatility and well rounded game will remind Auburn fans of other recent forwards of the Bruce Pearl era. He projects to be more of a multi-year player than players like Isaac Okoro and Chuma Okeke, but he has the skill set and potential to be a great player.

In my opinion, he’ll make his biggest impact at Auburn as a power forward. Rumors have said that Jaylin Williams*, a four-star center/forward and the no.69 overall player in the country, could be a package deal with Moore, but Arkansas is likely still seen as the favorite here.

*(Auburn could have two players named Jaylin Williams on the roster at the same time.)

If Auburn adds 2020’s Jaylin Williams to the class they already have, the Tigers would (currently) have the number five recruiting class in the country, according to the 247 class calculator.

However, Moore would also pair well with potential front courts that could include Babatunde Akingbola and 2020 prospects such as Cliff Omoruyi, Dylan Cardwell and even Greg Brown.

Auburn’s Jaylin Williams ability to play power forward will also give Moore a chance to ease into that position and role.

Moore joins five-star guard Sharife Cooper and three/four-star guard Justin Powell in Auburn’s 2020 class.
