#7 MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS

DETAILS: OCTOBER 6 at STARKVILLE

While I do have Mississippi State ranked low on this list, I am not writing them off. I simply have them here because of uncertainty.

Former Head Coach Dan Mullen left Starkvegas after going 69-46 in 9 seasons. Mullen has returned to Gainesville to lead the Florida Gators, where he won two national championships as an assistant under Urban Meyer.

Joe Moorhead takes over after two successful seasons as the offensive coordinator for Penn State, where the Nittany Lions went 22-5 during that span. Moorhead had a hand in developing some of the key talent for State College’s prolific offense during his two year run  — runningback Saquon Barkley and quarterback Trace McSorley benefited greatly from Moorhead’s direction, which helped lead the Nittany Lions to back-to-back New Year’s Six bowl games.

Nick Fitzgerald returns to the Bulldog offense, it will be interesting to see how well he gels with Moorhead, and how well they click by the time Auburn comes to town.

Prediction: Auburn 45 Mississippi State 28
